Meal date: March 25 2026
Recently, I discovered that Pizza Pizza had been sending me 40% off offers by text messages, most of those were unseen and were automatically filtered out as spam by Google.
But on March 25 2026, one of those snuck past the filter and I happened to be in the mood for pizza dinner.
After conducting some quick research to determine its legitimacy, I browsed around to see if the offer really was a good value, over something like a 1-topping medium or large takeout special.
Turns out, I could order something more like a single medium Canadian or Hawaiian and still have a cost advantage.
Yes, I admit it. I like pineapple on my pizza. However, playing around the configurator, I found that it was quite a bit cheaper to forego bacon strips and merely have bacon bits and pineapple without taking too much away.
$3 is certainly a large portion of an IKEA breakfast, or value oriented burgers. Ultimately, I ended up with a small Canadian and a small Hawaiian, 6 slices each.
How do I put this... For as long as I can remember, Pizza Pizza has been memed on as "cardboard pizza," but I'd actually have to disagree.
I spec'd thin crust for both, and the crust managed to be a disappointment in the most confounding way: the edges were crispy and overcooked, leaving a bad end note, while also being super flimsy and probably undercooked in the centre.
The reality being, each Hawaiian slice was a soupy mess that tasted more like pineapple than meat since the topping distribution turned out that way. The best tasting element was... the crust
Do things get better with the Canadian? Not really.
In addition to the overcooked and flimsy thin crust of the Hawaiian, the thin crust on the Canadian was overcooked to the point of... bonus charcoal sticking to the undersides of some slices
Sure the toppings were more "conventional" and acceptable to some of the population, but the flavour profile wasn't exactly exciting either, in fact, it was more of a salt assault that left me thirsty for the rest of the night.
For a total order cost of $17.52, I would pass...
