Tonight’s Global National felt slow and poorly distributed with 5 stories shown in the A-block for almost 15 minutes, and a single ~2 minute story per B/C/D block with ~2.5 minute breaks sandwiched in between for a total of only 8 stories within a 30 minute scheduling block. The newscast opened and closed in typical Global National form (including the hard cut to closing before a proper close could be heard on CIII). One notable observation in report packaging was that only Jeff Semple (in studio), David Akin (in Poland), and Nathaniel Dove (in Toronto) were seen facing the cameras at any point in their reports, with everyone else doing voiceovers.
The A-block on this newscast was the one to watch, playing its role well in covering both national and international news. A slower pace of 5 stories covered over ~15 minutes allowed for good detail and analysis.

The D-block consisted of a feel good human interest story, followed by a typical Your Canada photo slideshow close with a hard cut (music interrupted/incomplete) to a Kitchen Nightmares on Flavour Network promo.
